Black History Month

here Hello  today I am going to tell you about Black History Month. Today you will learn about the fight for education . I am also going to tell you about Mary Mcleod Bethune.

Mary Mcleod Bethune was a famous person who helped black students get a better education. She also taught black students and worked with presidents to fight to make sure every child in the U.S got a good education. Back in the 1800s, blacks could not get any education. if they did get education they could not be with whites in the same classroom.

Mary Mcleod Bethune was the fifteenth child out of seventeen. She was the only one that was not a slave when she was born. She was not a slave because Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. The Emancipation Proclamation helped black slaves be free. Mary was the

Inner planets are awesome

Hello I'm back.  In my last blog I talked a little bit about inner planets. Now I am going to tell you more about them.

Another word for inner planets are the terrestrial planets. All of the inner planets have a crust mantle and a solid inner core. The inner planets are Mercury,Venus,Earth and Mars. All of the inner planets are made of solid rock. Each inner planet can have different sizes, atmospheres, and surface.

Mercury is the smallest planet in the solar system. It is also the fastest planet that orbits around the sun. Mercury has a core made of iron and nickel.  It's large core might have been formed by a collision with a large object during it's formation. There are smooth plains and solidified lava from eruptions long ago.  There is almost no erosion on the planet and this planet has no moon. Mercury has no atmosphere.  That means there is no wind that moves energy from place to place across the planet's surface.

Venus is the second planet to the sun. It is also the hottest planet. It is hotter than mercury. I bet you did not know that. Venus is hotter than mercury because of the increased amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere which locks the heat in side. Venus used to be like earth. It once had a magnetic field like us. When the magnetic field broke the sun rays hit venus making it the hottest planet.

Earth is the third planet from the sun. Unlike Mercury and Venus it has one moon. Earth's atmosphere absorbs much of the sun's radiation and protects the surface below. Earth is the only planet with water and life.  Earth's protective atmosphere, liquid water and the planet's moderate temperature range support a variety of life.  You might have thought that Neptune had water on it but that is gas.
Mars is the fourth planet and it has 2 moons.  These moons might be asteroids that were captured by Mars gravity.  Mars is half the size of the earth.  Many space probes have visited Mars and images of Mars show features that might be made by water. The temperature on Mars range from about -125 degrees C at the poles to about 20 degrees C at the equator.  Winds on Mars creates dusts storms that lasts for months.  The reddish color of Mars is because it's soil contains iron oxide that is a compound in rust.  Olympus Mons is a volcano that is as wide as Arizona and 3 times as high as Mount Everest.

space

First of all a Planet is a spherical shape that orbits around the sun.  Space is made up of inner and outer planets. inner planets are the planets the closest to the sun. They are also the smallest planets. All of the inner planets are mercury, venus, earth, and mars. Outer Planets are the farthest away from the sun. They are the biggest and coldest Planets. Those Planets are Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune and pluto.
Most of the planets have the same orbit. The only Planet that has a different orbit is Mercury. Mercury's orbit is in a oval shape. If you lived on mercury the sunrise and sunset would be a lot different from earths sunset and sunrise. It would be like the sun is going back and forward.
Now I am going to tell you about dwarf planets. A dwarf planet is a spherical object that orbits the sun. It is not a moon of another planet. Dwarf planets are made of rock and ice and are much smaller than earth. There is only about one dwarf Planet in our Solar System. That Planet is Pluto. It is the farthest Planet away from the sun. It is probably the coldest.
If you want to learn about comets and asteroids then keep reading. A comet is made of gas, dust, and ice and moves around the sun in an oval shaped orbit. A asteroid are small rocky objects that orbit the sun they come from all of the Outer Planets. Most of them come from Planets with rings. Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus have asteroids and comets. Not all comets and asteroids are round.

Waves and tides are awesome!

Hola I'm back. Today I am going to tell you about ocean waves and tides. I'm also going to tell you about their features and how waves and tides are caused.

Tides are the rise and the fall of the ocean's surface. They are caused by the gravitational force between the earth and the moon, and between earth and the sun. Tsunamis are close to tides. They are caused by  under water earthquakes and under water volcanoes.

There are lots of parts of a wave. Two parts of a wave are the wavelength and the wave height. The wavelength is how long the wave is and also the distance between the crest and trough of the two waves.  The wave height is the height of the wave.  The top of a wave is called the crest and the bottom of a wave is called the trough. The sea level in the wave is in the middle of the wave.
Lastly I'm going to tell you about a spring tide, a neap tide and a tidal range. A spring tide has the lowest tidal range. This happens when the earth, the moon, and the sun are in a straight line. This is similar to a high tide. The tidal range is the difference in water level between a high tide and a low tide. A neap tide has the highest tidal range. It occurs when earth, the moon and sun form a right angle.

Oceans!!!!!!

Hello I'm back and today I am going to tell you why oceans are salty, what the sources of the earth's oceans are, describe features of the ocean, and compare and contrast the different zones in the ocean.

The ocean covers up 70% of the earth which is a lot of water. There are 5 different oceans. The Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, Arctic Ocean, and the Antarctic Ocean. I bet your wondering why the Oceans are salty. The reason why they are salty is because when the clouds pick up water from rivers and lakes it is also picking up small amounts of mineral salts. When the cloud is full it lets out rain into the oceans to make it salty. Have you ever gone swimming in the ocean and got the water in your mouth? I guess not

There are a few sections of the ocean that I am going to tell you about. The Continental Shelf, the Continental Slope, and the Abyssal plain. The Continental Shelf is the edge of a continent that extends out under water and can extend out to about 500km. A lot of people think that the Continental Shelf is the deepest part of the ocean but its not.  The Continental Slope is the end of the continent.  The Abyssal plain is made up of sediments deposited at the bottom of the ocean floor. Not many fish live down there.

Lastly, I'm going to tell you about the different zones of the ocean.  The Sunlight Zone is where the most sunlight is visible.  Heat from this light is responsible for the different water temperatures found in this zone.   Underneath that zone is The Twilight Zone. It is the zone were we begin to see strange and bizarre creatures that look like they have lights around their body. The next zone is the Midnight zone.  It extends to 1000 meters down to 4000 meters.  The only light in this zone is made by the creatures that live in this zone.  The creatures that live in this zone colors are black and red due to the lack of light.   The last zone is The Abyss. The water temp in the Abyss is near freezing and their is no light.  Not many creatures can be found in this zone.

But before that it was Christmas! I didn't get a lot of presents but I did get what I wanted. The best present that I got was a Xbox 360 Kinect.

I do not have a lot of new year resolutions. One of my resolutions is  having the Best Summer Ever!!!!!!!!! Do you want to know why It is going to the the best summer ever? because I am going to go to Jamaica then I am going to go to six flags!!!

Sharks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

small shark circling deep sea diver animated gif - Jawshark.comToday I am going to tell you about sharks. I am am going to tell what kind of sharks there are and there characteristics. First I am going to tell about the different types of sharks. There are lots of different sharks. There are more than 250 species of shark. One of the biggest sharks is the megalodon the megalodon is extinct. The smallest shark is the dwarf lantern shark. The megalodon can get up to 40ft. The lantern shark can get up to 17cm.

The great white shark is the most common shark. Great white sharks have the most attacks on humans. They can get up to 12ft and weigh to 3,000 pounds. Unlike most sharks the great white puts its head up above water. The reason why great whites attack us is because they think we are seals. Seals are sharks normally eat.

One of the uncommon shark is the spiny dogfish shark. The spiny dogfish is a small schooling shark. It is gray or brownish on top of a pale gray or white. The average length is about 75 to 105cm. The shark eats several types of food. They eat cod, haddock, hake, herring, menhaden, and ratfish. They also eat inveterbrates.

Now it is time for videos
